WATERCOLOURS OF SERGENT

I stumbled across this gallery of Sargent's watercolours. He used watercolour in such a free way and added gouache and graphite pencil where he needed it. Have a look at this gallery by scrolling through.
John Singer Sergent

I have recently been very fascinated by this artist. Not only was he the noted society portrait painter but a also a stunning watercolourist.
Have a look at this video.

VARENGEVILLE AND BRAQUE
Georges Braque (born in Normandy) moved back to the Normandy coast in the 1930's. He lived in Varengeville for a while and his tomb is in the cemetery of the church for which he designed the "Arbre de Jesse" stained glass window in 1954. It is one of the most beautiful churches around and is in a wonderful cliff-top location favoured by many painters.

EVERY STRONGHOLD MUST FALL

In the second week of July there was a massive cliff fall just to the West of the village.
The fresh white chalk of the fall provided a backdrop to an old nazi blockhouse that had fallen from the cliff top some years ago.
The new paintings of the cavées

A couple of new cavée paintings were added to the ones for exhibition. Both showing the extraordinary light beneath the dense foliage in the height of summer.
NEW EXHIBITION AT ATELIER2

Since 13th of August we have been extremely busy with a new exhibition and a vernissage on the 14th. We introduced the french to Pims ( un cocktail anglais) which went down extremely well. We had some real luck with the weather and the sky cleared about 2 hours before the first guests arrived. The show was well received and some sales were made.
All the paintings were made since March and are of the cavées and falaises.
